The gesang flower, also known as gesang meiduo. In the Tibetan language, “gesang” implies happiness and beauty. It is often regarded as the flower of life on the plateau. The plant is not tall, with thin but tough stems. The flowers are small and delicate, usually having eight petals. They come in a rich variety of colors, including light pink, pure white, and bright purple. It has a tenacious vitality and can take root and grow in the harsh environment of the plateau, fearing neither the cold wind nor the scorching sun. In Tibetan culture, the gesang flower symbolizes happiness, auspiciousness, and tenacity, carrying people’s yearnings and wishes for a better life. Every year during the flowering period, the gesang flowers bloom freely all over the mountains and plains, becoming a romantic and charming landscape on the plateau.
