A Horned Lark is a small, ground-dwelling bird that belongs to the lark family, Alaudidae. Horned Larks are named for the small tufts of feathers on their heads that resemble horns or ears. They have a pale brownish-gray coloration on their upperparts and a white underbelly. In flight, they can be identified by the distinctive black and white markings on their wings and tail.
