Start by drawing a circle at the left of the paper.
From the top of the circle, extend a curved line to draw an upside down U shape and meet the lower right of the circle. To the right of the upside down U shape, enclose a large rounded rectangle to form the hippo’s body.
For each ear, enclose a long, narrow shape using a curved line. From the hips, extend a curved line and turn back to the hips to from the tail.
Draw the hippo’s legs. For each leg, extend a set of curved, parallel lines downward from the body. Enclose each foot using a short, curved line.
Erase the guidelines as necessary.
Draw a dot for each eye, leaving a tiny speck uncolored to indicate the shine of the eyes.
Draw two small ovals and shade them. These are the hippo’s nostrils. For each nostril, you can draw a short arc above it.
Draw a loose and rounded “M” shaped line across the front of each foot, indicating the toes.
Color your hippo.
